Philippians 4:10-13 Reflection

My Reflection: Being Content...Oh boy is that a phrase that is easier to say than to become. Our lives are filled with bombardment from ads, social media, and etc. It is so easy to look at something for the first time and say, "Oh yes, I need that!." But, do we really need it? Or, do we just want it? Or, do we just think we want it?

Looking the lives of others, it is easy to desire what they have. It might not just be an outfit, or a new car. What about more personal things like, a spouse, children, a well paying job? Those things are easier for us to unconsciously desire. And, it is okay to desire those things. It is okay to ask God for those things. But, in the waiting, our we being content? Are we okay with where God has us right here right now? Even though we might have that dream job just yet, that husband, or that beautiful baby, we can trust that He is concerned about us. He loves us. He knows what is best for us. We can be thankful for the here and now.

I thank you for the here and now God.

Trusting God When it is hard

Read: Philippians 4:10-13

10How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. 11Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13For I can do everything through Christ,4:13 Greek through the one. who gives me strength.

Love God Greatly "Our view of life and our relationship with Christ influences our contentment. When we have a heavenward view of life and realize there is no such thing as “heaven on earth” - that this world is not our home and the best is yet to come - we no longer long to build up treasures here. Our focus changes from “What can I get?” to “What can I do?” “How can I serve?” “How can I help?” As we take on a servant attitude and we realize the task God has called us to, we find lasting contentment, no matter what comes our way. Rest in the fact that God will equip us with all that we need to accomplish what He asks - not with our own strength, but with His."
