Risen 15: Matthew 27: 15-31, Revelation 20:12-13

My Reflection: How does Matthew 27:15-31 make you feel? This is the moment in which the Jews want Barabbas freed over Jesus. This is the moment in which Pilot washed his hands clean of Jesus and yet knowingly gave him over to the Jews so that they would kill him. This moment in time, every time I read it or watch it in a movie, it upsets me so much. Why did they have so much anger in their hearts? There was no evidence that Jesus deserved to die. But, their hate filled hearts wanted him to be no more. The Jews were filled with anger because Jesus dod not fit into their mold. He was not the anticipated king that they had hoped for. Jesus disrupted their philosophy, rules, and laws. He chose love over condemnation and that type of thinking was unheard of. And even in those moments of pain and heartache, Jesus kept going. He had to bring us back to the Father. Jesus stayed the course even though it was so hard for him. Luke 22:42 Jesus says, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me. yet not my will, but yours be done." With Jesus choosing to die for us, we now have life forever. But, the best part is that we will be in the presence of our God and we will be able to thank, praise, and worship Jesus for all he has done.
