Take a moment and think about the most precious lamb you have ever seen. Its coat is white and fluffy. Its eyes are so loving. And all you can do is say, "Awe its so precious." Now, imagine that this same lamb is headed for danger, but you cannot do anything about it. In fact, you are the reason why this lamb is in danger. As this lamb falls to its death all you can do is just cry out and say, "Watch out! No! Come back!." You are devastated about this lamb. You question what you just witnessed, "Why did this have to happen? Why wasn't I more careful?" That story is so sad right?! But, aren't you so thankful that Jesus's story turned out differently? The story did not end at his death. Isaiah 53:7 says, "He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers he did no open his mouth." In Matthew 26:53, Jesus could have had thousands of angels come and rescue him. As he hung on the cross he told the people mocking him, "Don't you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?" His death could have been stopped. But the mission was to bring us back to the Father, so he had to die a sinners death. As John the baptist saw Jesus, he exclaimed, " Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world." So, let us behold him today! He was raised to life! And now we have hope. Romans 4:25 "He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God."
