Risen 7: Philippians 3:10-11

Philippians 3:10-11 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. My Refection: As we read over those verses, really take a moment to let it sink in. Do we really know what we are praying and asking God for? To "participate in his sufferings..." Jesus suffered rejection, cruelty, pain, heartache and ultimately death on the cross. Last night during our young adult bible study, one of our facilitators asked, "What fears do you have when God calls you into your purpose?" A lot of times we see in the bible that before people were called into the ministry, they went through something that disrupted their way of life. Joseph was sold into slavery, Moses was given up at birth, raised by Egyptians and then murdered an Egyptian slave guard, and David fought Goliath. However, going through Big Things with a Big God and having a Big Purpose is okay with me. He will never leave us through those Big Things. He is bigger than our fears. Do we trust Him enough to know Him by participating in His sufferings, and becoming like Him in death? Remember that in the end he has overcome death. He was resurrected so now I can live in confidence in Him.
